VLC Media Player is a software popular for its ability to play most video and audio files. However it also has other lesser known features, such as its conversion tool. You can use the inbuilt converter to turn a video into an audio file fairly quickly and easily.
1. One you’ve installed VLC open the program.
2. Click on the media option and select the “Convert / Save” option.
3. Press “Add” and find the video file that you want to convert, then select to open it.
4. Choose to convert / save.
5. Next to the word “Profile” there is a drop down menu of all the file types that you can choose from. Select the audio preference, mp3 is recommended.
6. You can change the settings pressing the button located just to the right of the drop-down menu.
7. Under the Audio Codec heading you have the ability to change or increase the bitrate, sample rate and channels.
8. When you have the settings you’re happy with choose to save.
9. Click Browse to pick a destination folder for the new file. When you are happy with the location and name choose to save.
10. If you are ready to begin the conversion press Start at the bottom right of the window.
VLC Media Player is useful for converting and even compressing video files, which can be handy when transferring or uploading footage. The software also has a variety of different uses, such as playing different video formats that other programs don’t typically support and recording your desktop or computer screen.
