Valorant is a game that is highly dependent on teamwork and communication. If your voice chat isn’t working then this can make it difficult to play to your potential. Fortunately, there are a few solutions to fix any issues with Valorant voice chat.

Change Valorant Settings
Before getting too deep you will want to check the Valorant audio settings. With the wrong device selected your voice chat won’t work. Ensure that you are using the correct microphone and have the voice chat options enabled.
- Open the Valorant settings.
- Select the audio options.
- Switch to the voice chat options.
- Set the input device to the name of your microphone, or default system device.
- Drag the mic volume slider to the right.
- Enable the team voice chat and party voice chat options.
Set Microphone as Default Device
Most applications use the selected default device for communication. However, this can sometimes change unexpectedly for a number of reasons. Double-check to make sure the default device has been set correctly.
- Open the Windows start menu.
- Search for and open the sound settings.
- Select your microphone using the input menu.
Adjust Microphone Levels
Your microphone has a volume level that can be adjusted in the sound control panel. If the level has been lowered then your microphone may be quiet or completely mute.
- Right-click on the speaker icon at the bottom of the taskbar.
- Select “Sounds”.
- Switch to the recording tab.
- Select your microphone and open the properties.
- Switch to the levels tab.
- Set the microphone volume to 80 or higher.
Disable Microphone Exclusive Control
While untypical, some applications can take exclusive control over your microphone. Evidently, this will lead to your microphone not working in Valorant. By disabling the exclusive control option you will prevent any software from causing the issue.
- Right-click the speaker icon and select “Sounds”.
- Switch to the recording tab.
- Right-click your microphone and open the properties.
- Switch to the advanced tab at the top.
- Uncheck the option to allow applications to take exclusive control of the device.
- Apply settings then click “Ok”.
Update Microphone Drivers
Sometimes a microphone driver update may be required for the device to work correctly. Even if your microphone was working prior an update may be required. By updating you will ensure your microphone drivers are suitable for your operating system.
- Right-click on the Windows button and open the device manager.
- Expand the sound, video, and game controllers heading.
- Right-click your microphone and choose to update.
- Choose to search automatically for drivers.
Enable Microphone Access for Apps
Windows has options to enable and disable apps from accessing your microphone. When this setting is disabled Valorant won’t be able to access your microphone.
- Open the Windows settings.
- Select the privacy options.
- Go to the microphone permission settings.
- Enable the option to allow apps to access your microphone.
- Scroll down and enable desktop apps to access your microphone.
Reinstall Microphone
Sometimes drivers may become corrupt or faulty. As a result, your microphone won’t work. To solve this you can reinstall your microphone through the device manager options.
- Right-click the Windows button and open the device manager.
- Expand the sound, video and game controllers options.
- Right-click on your microphone and choose to uninstall.
- Complete the uninstallation of your microphone.
- Restart the computer.
If your microphone fails to reinstall then you can unplug the device and plug it back in. Alternatively, search for hardware changes in the device manager.
Run Valorant as Administrator
Occasionally running Valorant as an administrator can be a simple fix for various issues. While this is an unlikely solution it is still worth a try.
- Right-click on your Valorant launcher.
- Choose to run as administrator.
