There are several reasons why Valorant may be stuck on the loading screen. Fortunately, the issue can usually be solved relatively quickly. While the issue may be caused by issues while Valorant is trying to load, it may also be due to Valorant’s anti-cheat software, Vanguard, not working properly.
- Move Valorant to an SSD
- Disable Fullscreen Optimizations
- Put Valorant into Windowed Mode
- Run Valorant as an Administrator
- Set Vanguard Startup Type to Automatic
- Wait for Valorant to Load
- Reinstall Riot Vanguard
Move Valorant to an SSD
Typically, Valorant will take longer to launch if it is installed on a HDD. Fortunately, you can always move Valorant to an SSD if you have one. In many cases moving Valorant to an SSD will fix the issue and allow Valorant to run correctly. However, sometimes the installation drive isn’t the issue.
Disable Fullscreen Optimizations for Valorant
Another solution is to disable fullscreen optimizations for Valorant. This can be done by opening the Properties for the Valorant-Win64-Application file. This is the application file for Valorant. Additionally, you may find that you get better performance when you disable fullscreen optimizations for Valorant.
Put Valorant into Windowed Mode
If you’re still having issues then you can try putting Valorant into windowed mode. This can always be changed later after Valorant is no longer stuck. The easiest way to put Valorant into windowed mode is to press Alt + Enter on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can also try pressing the F11 button.
On some keyboards or laptops you may need to press an additional key in order to use the F11 button. Typically, this will be the FN button that is found to the right of the Space key, however, it may vary.
Run Valorant as an Administrator
Although unlikely, another option worth trying is to run Valorant as an administrator. This can be done by right-clicking on the Valorant and choosing to Run as an Administrator. Alternatively, you can always enable the run as administrator option in the Valorant application properties. Doing this will set the application to always open as an administrator.
Set Vanguard Startup Type to Automatic
In some cases the issue may be caused by Riot Vanguard not running correctly. If this is the case then you can try setting the Vanguard service startup type to automatic.
1. Open the Start menu, then search for Services and open it.
2. Find the vgc service, then right-click and open the properties.
3. Set the Startup Type to Automatic, then click Start.
4. Wait for the process to finish, then click Apply and Ok.
5. Restart your PC.
Wait for Valorant to Load
It’s possible that the reason Valorant is stuck on the loading screen is simply because it hasn’t finished loading. If this is the case then waiting longer will allow Valorant to open. Typically, this issue will occur if Valorant is installed on a hard drive. Although moving Valorant to an SSD is a better option, not every PC has an SSD.
Reinstall Riot Vanguard
If the Vanguard anti-cheat software isn’t working correctly then you can try reinstalling Riot Vanguard. Fortunately, reinstalling Riot Vanguard is an easy process and shouldn’t take too long.
1. Right-click the Start menu and choose Installed Apps. It may be called Apps & Features on Windows 10.
2. Find Vanguard.
3. Open the Options then click Uninstall and Uninstall again.
4. Open Valorant & Click the Update button.
5. Wait for Vanguard to Install then Restart your PC.
