With the Roblox chat safety restrictions can the ability to add people as trusted friends. However, this was originally called trusted connections before connections were renamed to trusted friends. To add a trusted friend on Roblox you need to either scan the person’s QR code, or add them on mobile using your contacts.
1. Select Add Friends on the Roblox home page.
2. Click on My QR.
3. Have your friend scan your QR code.
4. They will need to click the Add Trusted Friend button.
How to Add Trusted Friend without QR Code
In some cases you can add someone as a trusted friend without using a QR code. To do this you will need to go to the profile of the person you want to add, then open the options. Once done you will have the option to add the person as a trusted friend. However, if you don’t see the option then you will need to use the QR code method, or mobile contact option.
Requirements to Add Trusted Friends
If you can’t add someone as a trusted friend then it may be because either you or the other person don’t meet the requirements. The first requirement is that both people must have completed the age check, or verified their age. This process is required to unlock chat in Roblox. If you are able to use chat or voice chat then you have already completed this process.
Additionally, both people must also be in an age group that is 13 or older. If this isn’t the case then you won’t be able to add the person as a trusted connection. Furthermore, if you’re adding someone by scanning their QR code you will need to scan the QR code live. Unfortunately, you can’t scan a screenshot or recording of the QR code.
When Were Trusted Friends Added to Roblox?
Previously, trusted friends were called trusted connections. However, Roblox renamed Connections to friends, meaning trusted connections are now trusted friends. This changed happened on the 7th of April, 2026.
What is a Trusted Friend?
When you add someone as a trusted friend you can chat with them regardless of being in different age groups. This feature is designed to allow people that know each other in real life still be able to communicate through Roblox. Because of this there are some restrictions that can stop you from being able to add someone as a trusted friend. Alternatives to Trusted Friends
If you can’t add someone as a trusted friend then you can use a different chatting option. Discord is a popular option for both voice and text chat, and it allows you to communicate with multiple friends at once. However, if you can’t chat with someone because you’re in the wrong age group, then you can try changing your age group in Roblox. This can be done by redoing the age check, or by using your ID to verify your age.
