If you are having issues with voice chat not working in Roblox then it may be due the use microphone option being turned off. You can find this option in the Roblox Privacy settings. However, if you have already enabled voice chat in Roblox then it may be as simple as uninstalling and reinstalling Roblox.
- Enable microphone use on Roblox.
- Get Voice Chat on Roblox.
- Set microphone volume to 100.
- Change input and output device.
- Unmute microphone in voice chat.
- Log out and back in.
- Uninstall and reinstall Roblox.
Enable Microphone Use on Roblox
For voice chat to work in Roblox you will need to enable microphone use in Roblox. This setting is only available if you have voice chat enabled on your account.
Get Voice Chat on Roblox
To get voice chat in Roblox you will need to verify your Roblox account. Fortunately, this can be done using your phone number in many countries. In order to do so you will need to visit the account info settings and add your phone number. Doing so will send a code to your phone which must be entered to verify your number. Once your account has been verified you’ll be able to use voice chat in Roblox, provided you live in a supported country.
If you don’t live in a country that allows you to get voice chat by verifying your phone number, then you will need to verify using photo identification. This method isn’t preferred as it requires you to upload photo proof of your identity, such as a drivers license.
Set Microphone Volume to 100
Another reason why voice chat might not be working is because your voice chat volume is turned down. In scenarios where this is the case you’ll have voice chat in Roblox, however, people won’t be able to hear you.
1. Right-click on the speaker icon on your taskbar.
2. Select sound settings.
3. Select your microphone from the input device options.
4. Set the volume to 100.
Change Input and Output Device
When voice chat is enabled in Roblox you will need to set your input and output device to get it to work. Your input device is your microphone. If your input device isn’t set correctly then other players won’t be able to hear you. Additionally, you must ensure you have the correct output device set. Your output device is what you will hear the Roblox game and voice chat audio through. If your output device isn’t set correctly then you won’t be able to hear players in Roblox.
Unmute Microphone in Voice Chat
Typically, in Roblox your microphone will be muted by default. In order to be able to use voice chat you will need to unmute your microphone. You can unmute your microphone from the settings when in an experience. The microphone icon at the bottom can be clicked to mute and unmute your microphone. Additionally, there is a microphone button in the top left which you can also use to toggle mute your microphone.
Log Out and Back In
If the voice chat options aren’t showing up in Roblox then you can try signing out and back in. Sometimes voice chat may be missing as it has only been enabled on your Roblox account recently. In these situations signing out and back into your account may fix the issue.
Uninstall and Reinstall Roblox
A common solution for the voice chat not working issue is to uninstall and reinstall Roblox. This is a likely solution if you are playing Roblox on PC. Typically, this solution will work when Roblox was already installed before voice chat was enabled on your account. By uninstalling and reinstalling Roblox on your PC you will allow the VR settings to be enabled. The VR options are required to use voice chat in Roblox.
1. Right-click on the Start menu and select Installed Apps or Apps & Features.
2. Search for Roblox then open the options via the three dots.
3. Select Uninstall then Uninstall again.
4. Wait for Roblox to uninstall then run the Roblox installer.
