Other Ways to Fix the Discord Grey Screen Error
If you’re still unable to get past the Discord grey screen error then you can try using a different version of Discord. For a temporary solution, you can instead use the browser version of Discord. You can get to the browser version by signing in to your account on the Discord website.
Alternatively, you can also use the Public Test Build version of Discord which can be found on the Discord Downloads page under the Feeling Experimental heading.. This is an application version of Discord that is typically used to test out features. The Discord PTB application looks exactly like the typical application that you’re used to.
Why Won’t Discord Open?
Discord may not be opening due to an internet issue. If this is the case you’ll experience a grey screen or infinite loading screen. Another reason is that the Discord files are corrupt. If this is the case then deleting Discord’s app data folder should fix the issue as a new folder is made when Discord is launched. Although rare it’s also worth checking the Discord status page to make sure there aren’t any current outages. If there are then you may experience issues with all versions of Discord, not just the desktop application.
