Valorant has a fairly simplistic art style that can be enhanced to make it more vibrant and colorful.
There are several options that will make Valorant more vibrant, and improve the visuals in-game. Improving visibility is also a great option as it gives you a competitive advantage.
- Optimize Valorant game settings.
- Change minimap size & zoom.
- Change enemy highlight color.
- Adjust Nvidia color settings.
- Use Razer Cortex color adjustments.
- Adjust Monitor Settings
- Optimize Nvidia control panel settings.
Optimize Valorant Game Settings
You can adjust Valorant game settings to achieve a higher framerate or FPS. Having a high framerate will allow you to see enemies faster as the image on your screen is being updated more frequently. Your monitor’s refresh rate will need to be the same as, or higher than the FPS you get to experience the full benefit.
Quality Settings
Setting all of the quality options to low will help improve your FPS in Valorant. If your PC has a newer graphics card then you may be able to use the medium or high settings.
Anti-Aliasing
Anti-aliasing smoothes outlines to prevent a jagged image, including the enemies in Valorant. We recommend the MSAA 2x anti-aliasing mode, however, you can experiment to find what you like.
Anisotropic Filtering
Anisotropic filtering controls the texturing on 3D models and isn’t necessary for Valorant. To improve the frame rate of your game you can set the anisotropic filtering pretty low without having any issues.
Improve Clarity
Improve clarity aims to make objects stand out better while you play. Typically you will want to have this option turned on. If you are playing on a low-end computer or laptop, then you will want to disable the option.
Bloom
In Valorant the bloom setting is responsible for the glow effect that appears on light objects and often weapon skins. It is recommended to have bloom turned off to help increase FPS and remove unneeded fogginess.
Distortion
Distortions create effects that can obscure your view and make it difficult to see. Disabling distortion is highly recommended.
Cast Shadows
The cast shadows option places a shadow below your own character. In most cases, you will want to disable shadows it can hinder your visibility in Valorant.
Change Minimap Size & Zoom
The minimap is one of the most useful tools for gathering information in Valorant. The minimap helps with lineups and shows teammate positions and spotted enemies.
Through the general settings, you can control both the size and zoom of the minimap. The size adjusts how big the minimap appears on your screen, whereas the zoom controls how zoomed into the map the overlay is.
The aim is to set the minimap so you can see a good portion of the map, without it obstructing your view. To do this most players will increase the size of the minimap, and lower the zoom. If you find the minimap is obstructing your view then you can decrease the size. Typically you won’t want to set the minimap size any lower than 0.93.
Change Enemy Highlight Color
The enemy highlight color settings are designed to help players who are colorblind. The highlight options can also be used to change enemies to a color you can react to faster. The Deuteranopia and Protanopia options are preferred as they change the enemy glow to yellow.
Adjust Nvidia Color Settings
The best color settings for Valorant will differ depending on your monitor, however, the general adjustments will be similar. Before making any changes we recommended that you take a screenshot or write down the existing settings.
- Right-click on the desktop and open the Nvidia control panel.
- Select “Adjust desktop color settings” from the side panel.
- Choose the monitor that you use to play Valorant.
- Ajust color settings to your liking.
When making color changes you typically want to have the color channel set to all channels. The all channels option will adjust every color profile at once. Alternatively, you can select a specific color and make changes as you need.
Use Razer Cortex Color Adjustments
Razer Cortex can be used as an alternative to the Nvidia color settings, allowing AMD users to make Valorant more vibrant. Cortex allows you to increase the vibrance on your monitor through the booster prime adjustment options. When making adjustments you will also see four reference images to help you get your settings perfect. Cortex will make changes to all of your screens and can be used by Nvidia and AMD users.
Adjust Monitor Settings
Most modern gaming monitors have settings that can be changed to improve visibility. The available settings differ from monitor to monitor, or may even have different names.
Typically you will want to increase vibrance, saturation, and brightness to make Valorant more vibrant. Increasing the gamma of your monitor can also help lighten dark areas.
Vibrance
The vibrance controls how bright the colors on the monitor are. A higher vibrance setting will make colors pop and can help make enemies stand out from the background.
Saturation
Saturation determines how much color is being shown and has a similar effect that vibrance has. Increasing the saturation adds more color to the image, making the game more colorful.
Brightness
Adjusting the brightness of your monitor will change how dark the visuals are. A slight brightness increase can help lighten darker areas in Valorant. Having the brightness set too high will make it difficult to see enemies, and give a foggy appearance.
Contrast
The contrast of a monitor will affect the difference between the white and black of an image. Setting the contrast high will make the dark and light areas more extreme. Lowering the contrast will make the image appear flat as the light and dark shades are closer together.
Gamma
Adjusting gamma is the best way to brighten dark areas in a game without distorting the image too much. The effects of adjusting the gamma can often seem similar to brightness, however, it does a much better job at maintaining clarity. If the gamma is set too high then the image will look as if it has a white film over it.
Black Frame Insertion
Some monitors allow you to use black frame insertion. Black frame insertion works by adding a strobing black light between frames. This results in clearer outlines of moving targets. The strobing feature differs depending on the monitor, however, it is often referred to as BFI or DyAc. Enabling these features may limit the refresh rate on your monitor.
Optimize Nvidia Control Panel Settings
Computers that use an Nvidia Graphics card have access to the Nvidia control panel. The control panel allows you to make adjustments to optimize games to the best performance. Changing the 3D global settings will make changes to how every game runs. You can then make changes to individual games by adding them to the program settings tab.
- Right-click on your desktop and open the Nvidia control panel.
- Select “Manage 3D Settings” from the side.
- Use the global tab to make changes to all games, or program settings to change an individaul game’s setting.
Below you will find our recommended Nvidia settings for Valorant. Typically these settings will work well for all games.
Conclusion
In order to make Valorant more vibrant, you can optimize your game, screen, and graphics settings. While some of the preferred settings may vary from person to person, there is still a general guide that will make Valorant look better. The primary objective is to change your settings to maximize framerate, improve clarity, and enhance color.
