How to Fix Riot Vanguard Crash Issues

There are several reasons why you may be getting a Riot Vanguard error when playing Valorant. Typically, this error occurs due to Vanguard not running properly, or running on startup.

Set The VGC Service to Run Automatically

One method to fix the Riot Vanguard crash report issue is to set the Vanguard service to run automatically. To do this you will need to have administrator permissions for your PC.

1. Open the Start menu.

2. Search for Services and open the Services app.

3. Find & select the vgc service.

4. Right-click on the vgc service and open the properties.

5. Set the Startup type to Automatic, then Apply.

6. Click the Start button, then wait for the process to finish.

7. Restart your PC.

Enable the VGC Service in the System Configuration App

1. Search for and open the System Configuration app using the Start menu.

2. Switch to the Services tab.

3. Check the box to hide all Microsoft services.

4. Find the vgc service and check the box to enable it.

5. Click Apply, then choose to Restart your PC.

Set Riot Vanguard to Run on Startup

Another option is to set Riot Vanguard to run on startup. This means that Vanguard will automatically open and being to run when you turn on your PC. If this isn’t enabled then you will be prompted to do a system restart to play Valorant.

The easiest way to set Vanguard to run on startup is to use the Start menu to search for “startup apps”. Once the settings are opened you can locate and find the Vanguard tray notification application, once enabled you will need to restart your PC.

Uninstall and Reinstall Riot Vanguard

If all else fails, then you can uninstall and reinstall Riot Vanguard to fix the Valorant crash issue. You can uninstall Riot Vanguard through the Installed Apps settings, or Windows Control Panel.
